Doctor to Doctor is a nonprofit organization founded in Berkeley, California USA in 1994. We seek to provide assistance to medical professionals in underserved places around the world.
Doctor to Doctor volunteers are medical professionals—physicians, psychologists, nurses, and others—who travel abroad to meet with their colleagues in other countries. They carry with them medications and books which are donated to the facilities they visit.
Most of the sites visited have been in Southeast Asia with Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar receiving most of the Doctor to Doctor visits. However volunteers have also traveled to Ukraine, Peru, China, Cuba, Nicaragua, and Mexico.
Most of our activity has been in psychiatry because the Founder of Doctor to Doctor, Robert Dolgoff MD, is a psychiatrist. However there have also been some visits by medical professionals with other specialties including oncology, speech pathology, endocrinology, and ophthalmology.
We are exempt from Federal Income Tax as per section 501(c) (3) of the Revenue Code and we hold certificate #CT-96482 from the Registry of Charitable Trusts in the State of California. All income comes from donations and from fees we charge volunteers who participate in conferences we organize.
